Workshop #1 – 10:00–13:00
Softness, Circularity & Elasticity — Dancing in Contact through the Senses A somatic exploration of touch and weight, tuning perception through softness and listening. We’ll refine the quality of contact, awaken elasticity, and play with circular dynamics — an invitation to improvise and let the body find new pathways of shared motion.
Workshop #2 – 15:00–18:00
Dancing the Embrace — Between Structure and Freedom Through the embrace, the chest connection, and the dialogue of shared balance, we’ll explore how form can become a portal to improvisation. Sensing the emotional and structural dynamics of the tango embrace, we move between precision and surrender — within ourselves, with a partner, and within the collective space of the dance.
JamMilonga – 19:00–22:30
An open space where tango and contact merge — a collective dance between improvisation and form, listening and rhythm, individual flow and shared pulse. A living celebration of somatic dialogue.
Teacher’s Bio
Raffaele Rufo is a choreographer, director, and dance pedagogue with over twenty years of international experience across Europe, Australia, and Africa, collaborating with companies, festivals, schools, and communities. He first encountered Argentine Tango in Italy in the early 2000s, studying with renowned masters and later performing with EfectoTango, directed by Alejandro Angelica. In Melbourne, he deepened his practice through Contact Improvisation and Body Weather, while exploring somatic approaches such as the Feldenkrais Method. In 2020, Raffaele earned a PhD from Deakin University (Australia) for his research on touch in tango as a gateway to somatic listening and improvisation. His current practice weaves together Tango, Contact, and Feldenkrais into a unique ecosystem of presence, connection, and creativity. He has shared this approach at international Contango and Contact Improvisation festivals including Stuttgart (2025), Freiburg (2025), Wuppertal (2018, 2020, 2025), Strasbourg (2022), and Tyrol (2021).
